Notes: Mr. Benjamin Fawcett became one of the lay preachers in the district, walking miles each Sunday to preach at schoolhouses and later churches, at such places as Allenford, North Derby, Tara, Invermay, Arkwright and Burgoyne. In later years he rode horseback. Benjamin Fawcett also gave leaderships in the Saugeen Reservation church. Logging bees and fall fairs occupied his time and he was president of the Bruce Farmers' Institute for several years. Benjamin married SPAVEN Martha in 1857 in Scarborough, Yorkshire North Riding, England. Martha (daughter of SPAVEN William and BIELBY Anne) was born on 25 Dec 1826 in Sherburn Near Scarborough, Yorkshire, England; was christened on 26 Dec 1826 in Sherburn Near Scarborough, Yorkshire, England; died on 11 Feb 1892 in Arran Township, Bruce County, Ontario, Canada; was buried in Tara, Bruce County, Ontario.
