Obituary of Muriel Proud
Sadly we announce the passing of Muriel Elizabeth Proud (nee Strong), at Lee Manor in Owen Sound, on Thursday morning, November 15th, 2018. at the age of 96 years. Much loved wife of Melville Proud for 71 years. Loving mother of Bill Proud (late Donna), Joan Burlington (Jim) and Holly Cameron, all of Owen Sound. Proud grandma of Jerry (Leanne), Jeff (Diane), Melanie (Tomas), Michelle (Geoff) and great-grandma of Quinn, Rhys, Sawyer, Maggie and Nathan. Dear sister of Noreen Lind, of Durham. Muriel will be missed by her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Wesley and Elizabeth Strong; her parents-in-law, Lindsay and Bethia Proud; her brothers, Whitey Strong (Ruth), Hart Strong (Mary); her brothers-in-law, Max Lind, Dr. Russel Proud (late Pat) and Rev. Arnold Proud (late Pat). Muriel will always be remembered for her exceptional preserves, cooking and baking – “Grandma, you have the best buns!” We are forever grateful for the kind care provided by Dr. Van Zyl and staff on 2-North at Lee Manor.
A Funeral Service for Muriel Proud will be held in the Chapel of the BRIAN E. WOOD FUNERAL HOME, 250 – 14th Street West, Owen Sound, Ontario N4K 3X8 (519-376-7492) on Tuesday, November 20th, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Lyn Workman officiating. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment in Hillcrest Cemetery, Tara. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Tara United Church or the charity of your choice as an expression of sympathy.
