  • Notes
    • Arrived in 1853 from Humberstone, Leicestershire, England. Took up Crown land in northern part of township of Carrick, Lot 23, Concession 12. With the help of other settlers, they cleared the land and erected a frame house. Here they raised two children. In 1870 a new brick house was built and is still home to the Hickling family. In 1889, Thomas Henry Hickling, their son, bought the farm and Edward retired. [2]
